But he did not stop there
The next morning, the Samaritan had to leave to continue his journey.
He took out two silver coins - about two days' wages - and gave them to the innkeeper.
"Look after him," he said. "Whatever extra he needs, I will pay you when I come back."
The Samaritan was already a stranger to this man. He could have walked away after the first night. Most people would.
But he made sure the man would be safe until he was completely better.
Lesson: Real love does not stop at "good enough". It keeps going until the person is okay.
